Guidelines for authorsDear Sir or Madam We would be pleased if you are considering to publish an article in our journal. A journal can only exist through contributions by its readers. Therefore do not hesitate to research and publish on an interesting aspect of the history of cartography. Our target audience includes scholars, map collectors, map dealers, and all others interested in old and historical maps. The content of the articles should be scholarly, the style and expression objective and refined. Before the final submission of your manuscript, we kindly ask you to read the following guidelines. You can avoid technical problems and save yourself and us unnecessary time and trouble. ResponsabilitiesThe author is responsible for the content of the contribution. Should there be more than one author, one of them should be designated as the liaison to the board of editors. The contributions should not have been published in this form before, and they may not be published elsewhere simultaneously. Simultaneous or subsequent publications based on texts published in Cartographica Helvetica require a written consent by the board of editors. This also pertains to publications in electronic online (e.g. Internet) or offline (e.g. CD-ROM) form. WorkflowManuscripts may be submitted in German, French and English. The author is responsible for translations from other languages. The receipt of a manuscript will be confirmed. The board of editors decides whether a manuscript is accepted or rejected. A rejection does not entail any compensation, neither does the acceptance entail any royalties. The board of editors decides when to publish an article. It is at the board of editor's discretion to alter texts or to propose abridgements. Any proposed alterations will be sent to the author for approval before beginning with the typesetting. The layouted pages will be sent to the author in due time, either as PDF or on paper. Corrections have to be limited to spelling or grammatical errors. Proofs should be returned to the board of editors within two weeks. The author will receive a number of publications free of charge immediately after publication, depending on the length of the article. There are no off-prints available. Technical detailsTexts (no high-resolution images) may be sent by e-mail to our contact address or to a member of the board of editors. To send a hard copy by mail is very recommended in any case. Please do clearly indicate which texts should appear in italics, where to place images, tables and so on. Save large tables and all images as separate files. In addition, the name and version of the software must be provided. Do not send original images but photocopies only at this moment. Digital images should preferably be smaller than 50 KB each when attached to an e-mail. Images are numbered thus: Abb. 1. Tables are numbered thus: Tab. 1. Please send high-resolution scans or slides only when asked by the board of editors. Book reviewsReviews of new books will be solicited by the board of editors. However, unsolicited reviews will also be accepted by scholars known to us. Copyright © 1990–2010 Cartographica Helvetica (Imprint) |
