Elisabeth and Samuel Wyder-Leemann:

The Zürichberg tithe map by Hans Rudolf Müller, 1682

Cartographica Helvetica 5 (1992) 21–29

Summary:

This paper deals with the original and a copy of the tithe map of Fluntern, a district of Zurich. Hans Rudolf Müller (1617–1701) can be traced as the author of this map, drawn in 1682. The reason for its realisation was a real estate exchange. The surprising accuracy of the map is proven with the help of a distortion grid and compared with the 1653 Stadelhofen tithe map drawn by Hans Conrad Gyger. The interpretation of such tithe maps increases our knowledge of the landuse and ownership situation.
