Michael Ritter:

The map engraver Michael Kauffer (1685–1727) from Augsburg

Cartographica Helvetica 41 (2010) 37–46

Summary:

The life and work of copper engraver Michael Kauffer Jr. from Augsburg is elaborated for the first time in this contribution. This sought-after engraver produced maps for various printing houses, in particular for Christoph Weigel in Nuremberg. Historically, however, the cartographically most significant works are his superior engravings contained in the monumental, multi-sheet works of the margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach and of Bohemia.
