Summary:

The manuscript map of Lake Constance drawn at the scale of approx. 1:50,000 measures 160 x 60 cm and bears no title, author or date. This article will show why Hans Conrad Gyger copied this map from the Thurgau Map for the Swedish general count Gustav Horn during the Thirty Years' War, thereby violating Swiss efforts regarding neutrality. The history of this map offers an interesting insight into the political and economic relationship of the city-state of Zurich during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648).
